How to use the machines 

What you 

need

COINS

All machines accept 20p, 50p, £1 and £2 coins.

DETERGENT

We recommend that you bring your own detergent plus fabric softener if desired. There is a detergent dispenser in the launderette on the back wall between machines W10 & D1. Insert 1 x £1 then slide quickly to get detergent packet.

No food or drink is allowed

Please take all rubbish home to recycle

If leaving the launderette whilst your washing is in a machine, please return within 45 minutes.

Last wash is at 8.30pm. Water will be automatically cut off from the machine after 9.30pm.

At 9.30pm, the door will automatically lock. You can leave, but not re-enter, so please ensure you take everything with you.

How to use the machines

Washers

Machines W1 - W2
and W6 - W8

Load: 8kg/80ltr

Price: £4.00 per wash

Coins accepted: 20p, 50p, £1 and £2 coins

  • Pre-sort your laundry 

  • Check that the drum is empty & clean

  • Load clothes

  • Add your detergent into hopper or drum

  • If using soap nuts, place these directly into the drum

  • Close door and rotate door handle to latch

  • Follow detailed instructions on screen

  • Use ^ arrow to change cycle from Cold to Warm or to Hot

  • Insert coins to the value of £4.00

  • Always check that each coin registers

  • The machine will then run the selected wash cycle

  • At the end of the cycle, follow screen instructions to open door.

Machines W3 - W5

Load: 18kg/180ltr

Price: £9.00 per wash

Coins accepted: 20p, 50p, £1 and £2.

  • Pre-sort your laundry 

  • Check that the drum is empty & clean

  • Select wash cycle

  • Load clothes

  • Add your detergent into hopper or drum

  • If using soap nuts, place these directly into the drum

  • Close door before inserting coins

  • Insert coins to the value of £9.00.

  • Always check that each coin registers

  • Some machines require "Press Start"

  • The machine will then run the selected wash cycle

  • Wait for cycle to finish 

  • Open door to collect clean washing

Machines W9 and W10

Load: 13kg/130ltr

Price: varies, up to £6.00 per wash

Coins accepted: 20p, 50p, £1 and £2 coins.

  • Pre-sort your laundry 

  • Check that the drum is empty & clean

  • Load clothes

  • Add your detergent into hopper or drum

  • If using soap nuts, place these directly into the drum

  • Close door and latch handle

  • Select cycle on touch screen

  • Insert coins to the correct value, as stated on the machine

  • Always check that each coin registers

  • Press 'Start'

  • The machine will then run the selected wash cycle

  • When screen shows 'Open', pull door handle to open.

Dryers 

Machines D1 - D4

Price: We advise at least £1 to run the shortest dry cycle (10 minutes) as last couple of minutes are 'cool down'.

Coins accepted: 10p, 20p 50p £1 and £2 coins

  • Check care labels on clothing

  • Select dryer temperature by rotating knob

  • Check that drum is empty & clean 

  • Close door before inserting coins​

  • Slowly & gently insert coins to the desired length of dry (with colder weather, you may need an extra 50p)

  • Watch the screen register each coin before inserting next coin

  • Push to start

  • Insert more coins at any time to get a longer drying time

  • The last 2 minutes are "cool-down"

  • Wait for dry cycle to finish 

  • Open door to collect dry washing immediately

Machines D5 - D8

Price: Minimum £1 (8 minutes) to start. We advise at least £1.50 as last couple of minutes are 'cool down'.

Coins accepted: 10p, 20p, 50p, £1, £2

Where machines are stacked on top of each other (7 and 8), the left hand control is for the top dryer (7) and the right hand control is for the bottom dryer (8).

  • Check care labels on clothing

  • Select drier temperature on the touch pad

  • Check that drum is empty & clean 

  • Close door before inserting coins​

  • Insert coins to the desired length of dry (with colder weather, you may need an extra 50p)

  • Always check that each coin registers

  • Push to start

  • Wait for dry cycle to finish 

  • Open door to collect dry washing immediately
